BLURB:
For Robbie Russo, only one man has ever owned his heart, Kyler Christenson. The years at each other’s sides never diminished his love for him, but with the rise to fame in their rock band, Black Heart Down, more than a few challenges hindered their relationship. Now, he’s reached a crossroads, either he’ll have all of Kyler, or he’ll walk away from everything they’ve built together.

Kyler may be fearless on stage, but if there’s one thing to send his heart crashing down, it’s losing Robbie. When Robbie delivers his ultimatum, Kyler’s willing to do what it takes for things to work. But change doesn’t happen quickly, and when he makes a terrible mistake, all their history together might not be enough to save their future.

EXCERPT:
*In this scene from Chapter 2, guitarist, Robbie Russo, is in the penthouse of his lead singer, Kyler Christenson, after being away for a while after they’ve argued*

Kyler went to the monitor and confirmed with the doorman that the pizza was his, then went back to the living room and handed Robbie the beer. “I’m going to change out of these things.” He gave the top of his pants a tug.

Robbie caught his movement, and also the large bulge pushing against Kyler’s pants. He flicked his gaze up to Kyler’s. “Alright.”

Kyler slowly turned away, walking toward a hall to go to the master bedroom.

Robbie couldn’t resist sneaking a look at Kyler’s ass in the leather pants. He reclined back on the couch, unconsciously running his hand over the supple black leather, then realized he was doing it and let out a frustrated groan, since he knew exactly what the gesture mimicked. He gazed around the room, attempting to distract his mind.

The tables were glass with stainless steel accents, the décor consisting of concert posters, Gold and Platinum records, two electric guitars, one acoustic. Everything cool, hard, rock star, like Kyler himself. Yet there was style and softness to the place also, like in the chairs and couch.

Robbie closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. Now his thoughts had gone from bad to weird. He was analyzing Kyler’s furniture trying to gain insight into him. He had officially lost it.

A knock sounded on the door. Robbie started to get up, pausing halfway to standing as Kyler came back down the hall wearing an Indianapolis Colts T-shirt and blue workout pants. He’d taken his hair out of the ponytail and shook his fingers through the golden strands as he walked toward the door.

Robbie dropped back to sitting. When Kyler was dressed in trendy clothes, he always looked hot. But when he was like this, to him, Kyler was even more stunning.

Kyler paid for the pizza and dropped it off on the coffee table on his way back into the kitchen to get plates. “Go ahead and throw in whatever movie you want.” He smirked over his shoulder. “You know where the porn is.”

Robbie couldn’t help but chuckle. “Yeah, but unless you’ve bought some new ones, we’ve already watched them all.”

Kyler returned with the plates, offering one to Robbie. “True, but we’ve also never made it all the way through one. The second half of any of them would be like a whole new movie.”

Robbie stared at him. His heart pounded quicker. His cock, which he was sure hadn’t gone all the way down since getting around Kyler, hardened to its fullest. The intensity in Kyler’s eyes was a look he knew well, and it always defeated him. He’d never understand how he could want to deny him and have him at the same moment. But he couldn’t do both, so he’d have to choose which path to follow; his heart telling him to surrender to Kyler’s smile, or his mind telling him to keep things cool.

Robbie reached up to take the plate, but laid his hand more over Kyler’s. “You never gave me a welcome home kiss.”

Kyler wet his lips. “I was under the impression you didn’t want me to kiss you.”

Robbie pulled the plate from Kyler’s hand and set it on the table. He stood, leaving only inches between them. He angled his lips toward Kyler’s. “I always want you to kiss me.”

Kyler lifted one hand, sliding it to the back of Robbie’s neck as he leaned forward, whispering before their lips touched, “That’s good, because I always want to kiss you.”

A hushed moan sounded in Robbie’s throat. He wrapped his arms around Kyler. As their bodies pressed together, his chest met with Kyler’s, his hands explored the muscle of Kyler’s back. Kyler’s kiss was tender, his tongue gliding over his own in slow, deep thrusts. Each time they had tension between them, when they finally allowed their hearts and bodies to succumb to what they truly wanted, it was always like this, as if they were starting over, again and again. And yet even though things would feel fresh, underneath it all was comfort and familiarity.

Robbie moved one hand up Kyler’s back to toy with the ends of his hair. The gentle kiss was wonderful, but he wanted more. He wanted Kyler to unleash his hunger, his aggressiveness. Robbie dropped both hands to Kyler’s ass, grabbing hold of each cheek and jerking him forward so their hips pressed tight together.

Kyler broke the kiss, his voice breathless. “You won’t be getting any rest if you keep this up.”

Robbie lightly nipped Kyler’s neck. “I’ve changed my mind about that.”

Those words were all Kyler needed. He spun Robbie and pushed him down to the couch, following after him.

BLURB:
Twenty year old Corey Evans is one-half of 2ICE, the biggest duo on the radio at the moment. Pronounced twice, they're number one on the Billboard charts this week with their latest single. And number one in download sales, with two albums that have already gone platinum, to hear their manager tell it. And currently on their second U.S. tour, which has sold out stadiums across the nation.

Despite this, there's an emptiness inside him which Corey can't seem to fill, no matter how many groupies he takes to his bed. He sees this same emptiness mirrored in the eyes of his band-mate, Ian Coltraine, who drowns his evenings after each show with a bottle of whiskey. Ian's the one Corey turns to when he wakes beside an unknown fan, still asleep in his bed and needs help evicting her. He's Corey best friend, the only person on the tour he can confide in, who he really trusts ...

The one, Corey finally realizes, with whom he is madly, deeply, terribly in love. And he suspects Ian might feel the same.

But his recent string of one-night stands makes Ian cautious about Corey's true feelings. He's wanted Corey for so long, and has watched him go through countless fans in search of ... what? Ian doesn't know. And he doesn't yet believe Corey when he says Ian might be it. Ian hopes so, but can't bring himself to believe Corey's fickle desire won't be gone in the morning.

Can these two young men somehow move beyond Corey's past and Ian's pain to embrace a love they both so desperately desire?

EXCERPT:
Corey pulled back the comforter, exposing pristine white sheets that still looked ironed. Ian hadn't slept in the bed at all. As Corey eased between the covers, the sheets cool on his skin, he frowned and tried to forget about the girl in his own bed down the hall. What the fuck was he going to do about that in the morning?

He didn't know.

Leaning back against the pillow, he pulled the comforter up to his armpits and looked over at Ian, who sat in the chair watching him. Watching him. So he still existed. He was still real, still alive, still here. "The bed's big enough for two," he murmured.

"I'm fine," Ian replied, but suddenly he didn't look fine to Corey. He looked sad and old and alone, and not fine in the least.

With a sigh, Corey rolled his eyes and let a slight whine creep into his voice. "Ian. There's plenty of room." To emphasize his point, he patted the empty space beside him. When Ian didn't reply, Corey said, "This is your bed. I'll sleep on the floor if I have to. Is that what you want? It doesn't matter to me. Just as long as I don't have to go back --"

"Fine." Ian hoisted himself out of the chair and stumbled to the bed. Sitting on the edge farthest from Corey, he kicked off his shoes and glared at the floor. "You happy now? You got what you wanted, Corey. You fucking happy?"

"Jeez." Corey didn't say another word as Ian began to undress, slipping out of his shirt and tugging down his pants until he stood in just his boxers and undershirt. As he reached across the bed to cut off the lamp, his shadow fell over Corey, blocking the light from his eyes. Then the room plunged into darkness, and the bed shook as Ian climbed beneath the covers.

Corey lay on his back and stared at the ceiling, blinking to assure himself his eyes were still open. He waited until Ian settled into a comfortable position before he turned toward his friend, who was rolled on his side away from him. All Corey could see was the slump of Ian's shoulder outlined against the dim glow of the curtains. "Ian?"

"What?" His voice was muffled, his mouth probably buried in the pillow.

Clearing his throat, Corey asked, "Are you mad at me?"

For a moment he didn't think Ian would answer. Then Ian sighed. "No."

Corey released a shaky breath he hadn't known he was holding. "Good."

Now that the lights were out and Ian was just a shadow in the darkness, Corey's mind couldn't stop turning, and he didn't want the silence that surrounded them to get inside. He wanted to hear Ian's deep voice, soft and comforting and slurred, wrap around him and hold him close. He wanted to hear Ian's steady breath drown out the tick of the alarm clock and the sounds of the city beyond the drawn curtain. "Ian?" he asked again.

"What?" Ian replied, gentler this time.

"Talk to me." Talk to me and make me real. Make this real, so I'll be able to look back on it when I'm alone and scared again and know for a few moments at least I existed to someone as just Corey and not anything else. Please, Ian. Please give me that much.

Ian chuckled. "You wanted me to get into bed so we could sleep. Now you want me to talk to you? What do you want me to say?"

"Anything." When Ian didn't answer, Corey prompted, "What were you doing in the lounge?"

"Drinking," Ian said.

Corey grinned. "I know that. What were you thinking about?"

"You," came the soft reply.

"Really?" Corey frowned at Ian's back. "Me? Why?"

Ian sighed. "I don't feel like talking right now, Corey, okay? I just don't."

BLURB:

Adam Blue is destined to be a rockstar. As lead singer of Viral Blue, he knows it’s just a matter of time before he’s on his way to fame and fortune. If he can just get a studio to sign his band and get his songs on the radio, he knows he’ll make it big.

When they land a spot onstage at a popular nightclub downtown, Adam hopes to get noticed. But he doesn’t expect to meet sexy Paolo Raucci, owner of Raucci Entertainment, a local studio looking for fresh talent. Paol likes Adam’s sound and, more importantly, likes Adam, as well.

But when Paol brings the band into the studio, his partner Lewis isn’t quite as taken with Adam’s rockstar attitude. Lewis doesn’t want to sign the band until Adam proves he’s willing to work. Unfortunately, the band takes second priority to Adam’s growing interest Paol … an interest that has nothing to do with his musical career.

The stress of recording their first studio album threatens to tear the band apart, and Adam’s ego further drives a wedge between the members of Viral Blue. Paol does his best to keep the band together, but ultimately it’s Adam’s call.

Adam wants it all ~ his band, his first record, and his new lover. Now that his dreams are finally within reach, what does he have to do to make them come true?

EXCERPT:

Adam leans against the bar and looks around. There’s no one here he wants to get with tonight and absolutely no reps unless they’re changing their style nowadays. When he and the guys started playing these gigs a few years ago, the studio people were easy to spot in a crowd like this. They were usually fat men, ample guts hanging over cinched belts and tight pants bulging at the seams they had somehow managed to squeeze into like overripe fruit. They always sidled up to Adam from behind and placed sweaty palms against the small of his back, and they always smelled super sweet, as if all the candy they had ever eaten oozed from their pores. They had greasy hair and an oily grin, and were always looking for a quick suck off in the bathroom, without fail, queer or not. They all wanted his mouth on their cocks in exchange for a contract. What the hell was up with that?

Adam thinks he could force himself to do it, if he has to, for the right contract and if it’s dark in the bathroom ~ God, it has to be pitch black ~ but it hasn’t yet come to that. Most of these studio scouts just want a free blowjob and don’t have the credentials to back up their offers of fame. They dangle the lure of a recording deal and call him pretty names, say they like his music, but when he doesn’t put out immediately? They disappear.

That’s the type he’s looking to avoid tonight. Steff told Trace there’d be sharks here, and Adam can swim with the best if he sees them coming. Tonight he wants them to come, circle around Viral Blue’s fresh sound and offer Adam some studio time … tonight he’ll take the bait. Hell, Trace is doing Steff for this gig, right? So Adam thinks he can take one for the guys if he has to. If only someone was offering …

Damn slut lied to him. Adam traces designs into the condensation frosted on the side of his soda. It’s all the bartender would give him without an ID, which he stupidly left at home. Steff was wrong ~ there are no execs here, studio or otherwise, unless there’s a new breed of scum out on the streets and if that’s the case, Adam isn’t even sure he’d recognize one if he were approached …

Behind him someone purrs into Adam’s ear. “Hey there.”

Adam feels a hand trail across the words studded into his back pockets, kiss this, and warm fingers slip into the waistband of his jeans. He looks down with a frown at the strong hand at his waist, then his gaze follows the arm up to see who’s hitting on him. The first thing he sees is a wide grin and, above that, pale blue eyes as clear as the ice cubes in his drink. Those lips are so sexy, so disarming, Adam can’t help but return the smile. “Hey.”

The guy’s about Adam’s age, maybe a little older. When he steps closer, into the light, Adam adjusts that ~ he’s closer to thirty, maybe even a little over. His olive skin has a dusky hue to it that gives him a Mediterranean look, and there’s dark stubble on his chin that might be the start of a beard or might just be where he forgot to shave this morning. Adam imagines running his fingertips over those bristles, feeling the raspy skin beneath his touch, and wonders what that would feel like against his own cheeks, or on his lips, or between his legs.

Suddenly the night just got a whole hell of a lot more interesting.

Leaning on the bar beside Adam, the guy turns his full attention onto Adam, right where it belongs. “I heard your song,” he says. He has a soft voice, mellow, that Adam has to lean forward to hear above the din of the crowd. In the lights of the bar, his hair is a tangle of blue-black curls, mussed and disheveled, falling effortlessly around his narrow face. Where the guy’s hand is tucked into the waistband of Adam’s jeans, Adam swears his skin burns. “You guys are pretty tight. Adam, right?”

Adam wants to ask how he knows but it’s part of the act, isn’t it? Telling the crowd who he is so they won’t forget. “Yeah.”

Because he hates that it sounds like he’s caught off-guard, he laughs. He moves a step away, just enough so the guy’s hand tugs at his jeans to keep him close. Adam looks at the hand again, then back at the stranger’s face. He notes the blue camo pants, baggy in the legs. The tight, sleeveless shirt, similar to Adam’s own, which pulls across firm chest muscles Adam thinks would taste good beneath his tongue. The shirt exposes arms he can imagine licking during sex ~ he sees himself biting into those fleshy biceps until he leaves teeth marks. How wide would that mouth open then? Maybe he’ll get lucky tonight after all.

Taking a sip of his drink and wishing the glass contained something harder than soda, he asks, “Who are you?”

The guy answers with a question of his own. “Can I buy you a real drink?”

It isn’t a reply but Adam’s been waiting to hear those words all night long. He orders a rum and Coke and the guy flags down the bartender to make it two. When the drinks arrive, he lets go of Adam’s jeans and holds out a business card that’s appeared in his hand as if by magic. Adam is duly impressed.

“Paolo Raucci,” the guy says with another smile, introducing himself. He pronounces it PAH-oh-lo, and Adam mouths the word under his breath to try to get it right. “With Raucci Entertainment. Call me Paol.”

“You’re shitting me,” Adam says before he can stop himself.

The grin widens, if that’s possible. “Nah, man. Everyone calls me Paol.”

With a laugh, Adam takes the card. “No, I mean ~ a guy like you ain’t with a studio.”

But he angles the card under the bar lights to study it in the amber glow, and damn if it doesn’t read, Paolo Raucci, Raucci Entertainment. A division of RVA Productions. Below that, there’s an address in the city and a slew of numbers ~ home, work, cell ~ followed by an e-mail address, a Facebook page, and a Twitter feed, to boot.

Damn. Adam can’t believe it. “No fucking way.”

Paol laughs as he sips at his drink. “What? Don’t I look the part?”

His eyes are like the crystal glasses behind the bar, row after row of alcohol that catches the light and reflects it back in a million faceted shards. They’re deadly like shattered glass, and Adam wants to stare into them to see if his reflection is mirrored in their depths. Just as he’s beginning to stare, Paol winks, “Did I mention I liked your sound?”

Two steps bring Adam back into the span of Paol’s arm, closer than he was before. Paol’s arm eases around Adam’s waist in a proprietary manner as Adam sticks the business card into his back pocket, brushing his fingers up along Paol’s arm to rest in the crook of his elbow. There Adam rubs the soft skin, thinking he won’t need much to convince him to do this rep for a contract. Hell, he’ll go down right here, right now, if that’s what it takes. If Paol asks, Adam will suggest they find someplace quiet. And if he doesn’t ask, Adam’s going to think it’s too crowded in here soon.

Leaning into Paol, Adam murmurs, “I think you might have said something along those lines.” He likes the coyness he hears in his own voice. He grins in that way he has that makes him seem impossibly young and inexperienced, and a thrill flushes through him when Paol grins back. “But tell me again.”

“I like your smile,” Paol says instead.

Adam thinks that’ll work, too.

Excerpt from Conquest by S.J. Frost

Conquest by S.J. Frost
Published by MLR Press

Blurb: As the vocally gifted lead singer of his band, Conquest, Jesse Alexander refuses to let anything hold him back from achieving his dream of becoming one of the greatest performers to ever hit a stage. Evan Arden was thought of as a musical genius when at the height of his career, he vanished from the spotlight. Together, their relationship is just as intense as their music careers, but with the pressures of success and fame pushing down on them, Jesse must decide what's more important to him, his life of music, or his life with Evan.

In this excerpt from Chapter 6, main character, Jesse Alexander, is visiting the mansion of superstar singer, Evan Arden for the first time. Evan is giving him a tour and they’ve just entered the music room.

Excerpt:
Jesse walked further into the room, turning in a circle to fully take it in. Electric guitars of numerous styles and brands hung on one wall with bass guitars and acoustics. Of the electric, Jesse guessed there had to be over thirty. Against one wall, dark walnut shelves displayed several violins and violas with two cellos and a full-sized harp sitting close by. On the other side of the room, shelves and wooden tables held still more instruments, though many of these were exotic, some of which Jesse didn’t even know existed until that moment. He moved across the room to them, his fingers all but twitching to touch.

Evan could see on Jesse’s face how he battled for control to not finger the instruments. “Go ahead. You can touch them. From the moment it’s created, an instrument’s only wish is to be held by a loving and skilled hand.”

Jesse gently laid his fingers on a zither near its strings and caressed the wood. “It’s true, isn’t it? Sometimes I think they’re almost living, the way each one has a unique voice. Kenny thinks I’m nuts. He says, a Strat is a Strat. But to me, every instrument has a subtle pitch difference that makes it its own, and when it gets held in the hands of someone who respects and understands it, the sound of that instrument becomes as individual as the soul of the person playing it.” He looked over his shoulder at Evan and smiled. “You probably think I’m mental, too, for thinking like that, don’t you?”

“No, not at all,” Evan said softly, in awe at the serene beauty that came over Jesse’s face when he was surrounded by instruments.

Jesse stopped before the violins, admiring each one. “They’re so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to learn to play, but I haven’t had the chance.”

Evan headed over to him. “I could teach you. I’ve seen all the instruments you can play. Picking up one more would be easy for you.”

Jesse turned a hopeful smile on him. “You would do that?”

“I would love to.”

Evan pulled down a violin case from the top shelf and set it on one of the lower ones. He opened it, revealing a violin inside with a rich brownish-gold finish. Though it lay silent, as the light in the room washed over it, Jesse swore he could hear the echoes of the countless songs the instrument had known, and all the emotions its voice had evoked from its listeners, joy, sadness, hope, seemed to have become as much a part of it as its neck, body, or stain.

Evan lifted the instrument from its case with the tenderness of a father lifting his child from its crib. He set it against his left shoulder to check the tuning, placing a soft white cloth where his chin would go since the model didn’t have a chinrest, and when the final adjustments were made, he said, “It’s been a while since I’ve played, so don’t laugh at me if I screw up.”

Jesse shook his head and sat down on the stool for the harp. “Never.”

Evan raised the bow and closed his eyes, calling the song he wanted to play to his mind. The music flowed through his mental ear, telling him the notes he needed. He settled the bow on the strings and played the first gentle notes of Pachelbel’s Canon in D major.

Jesse’s lips parted, the pure, divine sound of the violin stealing his breath to add to its essence. Like a heavenly being residing in the mortal realm, Evan wove the notes together with expert fingers and created a blanket of music that wrapped around them both. Though the piece normally called for more violins, Evan’s rendition and skill made it so the other instruments weren’t missed. Enraptured, Jesse stared at him, at his lips that looked so soft, at his fingers of such deft skill, and in that moment, the newly awoken part of himself became fully alert, and he knew then it was his very soul that Evan had roused. It responded to Evan, called to him, and there’d be no silence within himself until Evan was his.

Evan summoned softer notes from the violin as he brought the song to its end. He lowered the bow and opened his eyes. “So, what do you think? Think you can do it?”

Jesse blinked himself out of his daze. “What?”

“Play the violin. Do you think you can do it?”

Jesse sat silent. He had been so wrapped up in his internal musings he hadn’t paid attention to Evan’s fingering or strokes of the bow.

Evan laughed. “Weren’t you paying attention?”

Jesse lowered his eyes. “I got wrapped up in listening.”

Evan cradled the violin in his arms. “That’s alright. I got wrapped up in playing.”

“That violin has a beautiful voice.”

“He should. He’s a Stradivarius.”

Jesse fixed his eyes on the violin, in shock at sitting so close to such a piece of musical history. He caught how Evan spoke of the violin as a “he,” not an “it,” showing the level of respect Evan held for the instrument, and thought it was only proper to do so. “They’re so rare, where did you get him?”

“I had been looking for a Strad ever since I could afford one. Actually, I had come across one at an auction a few years ago, then had the opportunity to view two others from private collections, but I passed on each one. For some reason, even though they were Strads, they didn’t strike me. Then I saw him.” Evan ran his hand lovingly over the body of the violin. “He was part of the collection at the Nippon Music Foundation. It took me several months, but I finally convinced them to sell him. I had to have him and I wasn’t going to take no for an answer.” He chuckled softly and lifted his eyes to Jesse. “I guess I was a bit obsessed. Sort of like when you see someone you want so badly for your lover, your mind won’t let go of them. It creates images and sounds so sharp, you feel like you already know their touch from your dreams.”

Jesse glanced down at the floor. Evan couldn’t know how he felt, but those words made it seem like he understood perfectly. How was he supposed to respond to something like that? His emotions would betray him no matter what he said. He turned on the stool toward the harp and ran his fingertips over the strings, creating a cascade of harmonious notes. “I can’t believe you live in this big house all by yourself. Doesn’t it feel empty or lonely?”

Evan startled inside at the sudden topic change. Jesse hadn’t taken the opening he’d created for him. Things had been going so well and now it felt like Jesse had withdrawn. Uncertain whether to move forward or not, Evan cleared his throat. “Well, like I said, I haven’t been here very long so I’m still getting used to it. But being alone doesn’t bother me. I prefer privacy to an entourage. I’ve thought about getting a dog, if that counts. Or maybe a cat. And who else do you think I would have living here?”

“Don’t you have a few dozen girlfriends?”

Evan shook his head in confusion. “Why would you think I have a lot of girlfriends?”

Jesse shrugged and plucked a few more strings on the harp. “I just remember when you were performing you always had a different woman with you at every award show or big event. So I figured you probably have a lot of,” he turned his eyes to Evan in a meaningful glance, “lovers.”

Evan couldn’t keep his smile at bay. And there it was. The piece holding Jesse back, and of course it would. They had only just met, so obviously Jesse would know Evan the Entertainer better than Evan the Human Being, and the persona he had presented to the world was that of a very straight male, thanks to Greg. In order to keep his sexuality hidden, Greg had insisted he take dates to events where the publicity would be hot. Greg always arranged who his date would be, and the woman, so eager and excited to be on his arm, ended up irritated and disappointed from a long evening of being ignored by him. He didn’t feel it was his responsibility to keep them entertained since if he had it his way he’d go to the events alone, if he showed up at all. Unfortunately, the charade of being seen with so many different women and never having a steady girlfriend branded him with the reputation of a playboy, and he always knew it would come back to haunt him someday.

“You’re right, I always did go places with a lot of different women, but out of all those women, did you ever hear of one referred to as my girlfriend?”

Jesse laid his hands on the harp strings to silence them and looked sharply up at Evan. “No, but isn’t that where the whole being a player comes in?”

An amused grin quirked Evan’s lips. How bold Jesse was, practically demanding to know if he had other lovers, as if already staking a claim to him. He wasn’t used to people acting like this with him. Other men never cared if there was someone else in his life so long as they got their turn in his bed, but Jesse was already making it clear he wouldn’t tolerate anyone else. A pleased sigh passed through Evan, and he decided to answer Jesse’s question.

“Stand up,” he said.

“What?” Jesse asked, confused.

“You want to try and play the violin, don’t you? Stand up and come here.”

Surprised by Evan’s commanding tone, Jesse wondered if he’d been too pushy in trying to get him to open up about his personal life and had offended him. Now Evan was probably trying to brush it off by focusing on something they could both agree on. Music. Jesse stood and walked the few paces to Evan.

“Turn around,” Evan said.

Jesse stared at him, then slowly turned his back to him. Evan moved behind him and reached around him with the Stradivarius and bow. He put the neck of the violin in Jesse’s left hand, the bow in his right. Jesse froze, caught between being more alarmed at holding the Stradivarius or having Evan so close to him.

“Can’t we use a different violin? I’ll die if I drop him.”

“You won’t drop him.”

Evan set the violin against Jesse’s shoulder. Jesse turned his head, placing his chin on the cloth like he had seen Evan do. Evan adjusted Jesse’s fingers on the bow and kept his hand resting lightly over Jesse’s to guide it. He brought his left hand up to the neck of the violin.

“Wrap your hand around mine so you can feel each move I make. Move when I move and we’ll create a harmony together.”

Jesse nodded. Evan’s chest warmed his back, his arms embraced him, his deep voice purred in his ear. It was too much. He felt lightheaded. His awareness narrowed to Evan’s presence and his own erection throbbing with painful hardness.

“Here we go,” Evan said.

He set the bow to the strings. Moving Jesse’s hand for him, he began playing Pachelbel’s Canon once again.

Jesse closed his eyes, surrendering himself to the music, feeling Evan’s gift flow through him. He could read it in Evan’s body, in the slightest of muscle movements, where Evan’s hand and fingers would move next. The music lifted his inhibitions from him, dispelling them into the air with the floating notes.

Evan brushed his cheek against Jesse’s hair and grazed his lips over the edge of his ear. “Jesse,” he whispered, “you should know, I never slept with any of those women.”

Evan’s words began pulling Jesse from his trance.

“They were missing something so very essential for my pleasure.” Evan tipped his head lower and laid a soft kiss on the back of Jesse’s neck. “Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Jesse’s head spun with full comprehension.

“I don’t have lots of lovers. I don’t have even one. Though, I was hoping to change that tonight.”

Evan brought his hips up against Jesse’s ass to let him feel the proof of his words. He dropped his right hand from the bow, silencing the music, and drew his hand down Jesse’s chest to his stomach. He slipped it under Jesse’s shirt and rubbed his bare skin stretched tight across his toned abdomen.

At Evan’s touch, Jesse sighed softly and lowered the violin from his shoulder. His head fell back and to the side. Evan licked up his neck and kissed back down to suck near the curve. As Evan lightly nipped him, Jesse took in a shaking breath and pushed back hard against him.
